How this round robin generator works
This round robin generator creates schedules for any sport played in singles or doubles. Enter one player or team per line, choose the format, and the tool assigns matches to courts while showing waves and sit-outs.
Singles and fixed pairs use the circle method: one competitor stays fixed while the others rotate. Rotating-partner doubles rebuilds four-player courts each round and aims to give players new partners before repeats.
The schedule is deterministic, so the same names, settings and seed produce the same draw. If a perfect rotation is not possible, the result says so and makes the trade-off visible in the notes and fairness summary.
Available matches per wave = number of courts; matches after that continue in the next wave. For badminton score sheets: rally scoring is to 21 points, win by 2, capped at 30. A match is best of three games; sides change ends after each game and at 11 in a deciding third game.
Round robin generator FAQ
Can I use this for sports other than badminton?
Yes. The scheduler is generic for singles, fixed-pair doubles and rotating-partner doubles. Badminton is used for the included printable score-sheet instructions.
What happens when I have fewer courts than matches?
The generator splits the round into waves and labels each match with its court and wave, so no match is silently dropped.
How are sit-outs handled?
Bye positions are rotated and each competitor's played and rested counts are shown. With an odd count, a perfectly even rest count may not be possible, so the difference is visible.
What does the seed do?
The seed controls the deterministic draw for rotating-partner doubles. Reusing the same seed with the same inputs reproduces the same schedule.
What badminton scoring should I write on the sheet?
Use rally scoring to 21, win by 2, capped at 30. Play the best of three games, change ends after each game, and change ends at 11 in a deciding third game.
