How badminton service rules are checked
Badminton service rules can feel confusing during a real match. This checker uses the serving side's current score and the singles or doubles format to identify the correct service court.
It then shows the applicable rotation state and fixed service reminders, including the service lines and the diagonal target court. The result is deterministic and runs in your browser.
Service court = RIGHT when the serving side's score is even; LEFT when it is odd. Use the current score of the side serving, not the rally count. This reference does not replace the official laws or an umpire's decision.

Which score decides the service court?
Use the serving side's own score. An even score means the RIGHT service court; an odd score means the LEFT service court.
Does singles rotation work differently?
In singles, the same player serves throughout that service turn; only the side of the court changes with the serving side's score.
What happens in doubles after the serving side wins a rally?
The same player serves again from the other court, with partners swapping courts.
What happens when the receiving side wins a rally in doubles?
That side gains the serve. The player already standing in the correct court for the new score serves, with no swap.
Does this checker decide whether a serve was a fault?
No. It gives the court and fixed reminders. An umpire or the official laws determine disputed faults.
